About this scholarship
Jusoor is proud to continue our partnership with the University of Exeter as part of their Green Futures Taught Scholarships to offer two fully-funded master-level scholarships in the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy. Eligible master’s programs are listed below:

How can I apply?
Deadline for applications28 Mar 2024How to apply?Step 1 – Apply online to the University of Exeter for your chosen Masters programme from the list above for September 2024 entry. Please apply as soon as possible and no later than 29 February 2024.
Step 2 – If you are made an offer of admission from the university (conditional or unconditional) then please apply for the scholarship using the form here by the deadline of 28 March 2024.
A personal statement (500 word maximum) is required as part of the form, responding to the following questions:
- How have you helped others in the last two years? Your answer may include service to your family, friends, school, or community, as well as to an NGO or a charity (please provide dates, locations, and hours contributed per week as relevant).
- How do you plan to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria? Your answer may include the relevance of your chosen programme of study and any planned efforts you intend to carry out through your work or volunteering.
- What would it mean to you to receive a Jusoor-Exeter scholarship? Your answer may include both personal and wider benefits.
- How would you make the most of your experience as a Jusoor-Exeter scholar and serve as an ambassador for this scholarship initiative? Your answer may include your part in the campus community at the University of Exeter and more broadly around the world for Syrian students desiring to further their education.
An interview stage will be included in the selection process,with scholarship board members from the University and Jusoor. Candidates will be notified of the final outcome of their scholarship application by 16 June 2024.
These awards are for one year only and cannot be held with any other University of Exeter scholarship, deferred or transferred from the specified programme. To receive the scholarship following enrolment, the successful candidates will be required to sign the Jusoor Scholar contract. The main points of the contract are outlined below, and selected scholars can request to read the contract in full before accepting the award. The awardee agrees:
- To give Jusoor permission to use their name, photographs and biographies on Jusoor’s website, social media and in publications.
- To make efforts to attend online and in-person events when requested by Jusoor.
- To submit a form provided by Jusoor each term to provide academic updates.
- To agree that to the best of their ability, they will use the knowledge and skills gained through this scholarship to support the development of Syria.
- To maintain good academic standing.
- Not to serve as an official representative of any government and not to engage in activities of public nature that are likely to affect Jusoor negatively, while receiving funding from Jusoor.
Jusoor uses the Open AI Text Detector to check for scholarship applications that use generative AI (ChatGPT, Bing Chat, Bard). If the scholarship board believe that your personal statement has been generated in this way and is not a personal response to the questions, they reserve the right withdraw your scholarship application from consideration.
