Jusoor-Exeter Scholarship for Syrian Youth
About this scholarship
Jusoor is proud to announce a new partnership with the University of Exeter as part of their Green Futures Taught Scholarships to offer two fully-funded master-level scholarships in the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy. Eligible master’s programs are listed below:
- MSc Applied Data Science (Environment & Sustainability)
- MSc Applied Data Science (Renewable Energy)
- MSc Civil Engineering
- MSc Construction Design Management
- MSc Electrical Power and Smart Grids
- MSc Engineering Business Management
- MSc Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation

- MSc Mining Environmental Management
- MSc Renewable Energy Engineering
- MSc Sustainable Business Management (not including Tourism or Environment pathways)

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must:
- Be Syrian (including Palestinian with Syrian Travel Document), have lived continuously in Syria prior to the current crisis, and be currently living in Syria or one of its neighboring countries (Lebanon, Jordan, Türkiye , Iraq, Egypt)
- Apply to study an eligible Masters degree at the University of Exeter, via the University’s online application process and by the published scholarship application deadline
- Demonstrate academic merit by being offered admission for September 2023 by the University, and fulfilling any admission conditions set by the University
- Not already have a master’s degree
- Require financial support in order to take up the offer of admission
- Show intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria
- Have a strong record of leadership and community engagement, as demonstrated through volunteer and/or work experience
- Be willing to remain engaged with Jusoor’s community

How can I apply?
Deadline for applications31 Mar 2023How to apply?Step 1 – Apply online to the University of Exeter for your chosen Masters programme from the list above for September 2023 entry. Please apply as soon as possible and no later than 31 March 2023.
Step 2 – If you are made an offer of admission from the university (conditional or unconditional) then please apply for the scholarship using the form here by the deadline of 28 April 2023.
A personal statement (500 word maximum) is required as part of the form, responding to the following questions:
- How have you helped others in the last two years? Your answer may include service to your family, friends, school, or community, as well as to an NGO or a charity (please provide dates, locations, and hours contributed per week as relevant).
- How do you plan to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria? Your answer may include the relevance of your chosen programme of study and any planned efforts you intend to carry out through your work or volunteering.
- What would it mean to you to receive a Jusoor-Exeter scholarship? Your answer may include both personal and wider benefits.
- How would you make the most of your experience as a Jusoor-Exeter scholar and serve as an ambassador for this scholarship initiative? Your answer may include your part in the campus community at the University of Exeter and more broadly around the world for Syrian students desiring to further their education.
An interview stage may be included in the selection process, including panel members from the University and Jusoor. Candidates will be advised in advance if this is the case. Candidates will be notified of the final outcome of their scholarship application by 16 June 2023.
